Privacy Policy

Last Updated: November 25, 2025

Introduction

Welcome to Bible Note AI. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Bible Note AI is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require user accounts or collect personal identification information. You can download the app and start using it immediately without providing any personal details.

This Privacy Policy applies to users in the United States and Canada.

Information We Collect and Store

No User Accounts

Bible Note AI does not require user authentication or account creation. We do not collect names, email addresses, usernames, passwords, or any other personal identification information.

Sermon Transcriptions and Summaries

When you use our transcription and AI analysis features, we temporarily store the following data on our servers:

  • Transcriptions: The text transcription of your audio recordings
  • AI-Generated Summaries: Key themes, scripture references, and summary content created by our AI analysis
  • Processing Status: Information about the status of your transcription jobs (pending, processing, completed)

This data is stored on our servers so that your device can retrieve the processed results after transcription is complete. Since audio processing can take several minutes, this allows you to close the app and retrieve your completed transcriptions later.

We do not store your original audio recordings on our servers. Audio files are only transmitted for processing and are not retained after transcription is complete.

Data Stored Only on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

  • Your audio recordings
  • Journal entries and your personal reflections
  • Personal notes and annotations
  • App preferences and settings

Audio Processing

When you use our transcription and AI analysis features, your audio is processed using OpenAI's Whisper AI for transcription and their language models for generating summaries, key themes, and scripture references.

We store the resulting transcriptions and AI-generated summaries on our servers so you can access them later. Your original audio recordings are not stored on our servers.

OpenAI processes your audio according to their privacy policy. As of our last update, OpenAI retains API data for 30 days for abuse and misuse monitoring purposes, after which it is deleted unless otherwise required by law. For more information, review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to help us understand how users interact with our App and to improve its performance and stability. These services automatically collect certain technical information:

Firebase Analytics

Firebase Analytics collects usage data to help us understand how users interact with the App:

  • Device information (model, operating system version, device identifiers)
  • App usage patterns (features used, time spent in app, session duration)
  • General location information (country, region - not precise GPS location)
  • App performance metrics

Firebase Crashlytics

Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and error data to help us identify and fix bugs:

  • Crash logs and stack traces
  • Device state information at the time of a crash
  • Device identifiers
  • App version and build information

This data is collected and processed by Google (Firebase's parent company) in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. The data collected is anonymized and cannot be used to personally identify you.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI

We use OpenAI's API services to provide transcription and AI-powered analysis features. Your audio content is temporarily processed through OpenAI's systems as described in the Audio Processing section above. OpenAI's use of your data is governed by their privacy policy.

Apple App Store

Our App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and all subscription payments are processed by Apple. Apple may collect information about your purchases and device in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not have access to your payment information or Apple account details.

Apple In-App Purchases

Subscription management, billing, and payment processing are handled entirely by Apple through their In-App Purchase system. We do not collect or store any payment information. For questions about billing, subscriptions, or refunds, please contact Apple Support or manage your subscription through your Apple ID settings.

Device Permissions

Bible Note AI requires the following device permissions to function:

  • Microphone Access: Required to record sermons and teachings within the App
  • File Storage Access: Required to save and retrieve your sermon notes, transcriptions, and other content locally on your device
  • Network Access: Required to communicate with our API for audio processing
  • Push Notifications: Optional permission to receive notifications when your transcription and summary jobs are completed or if processing errors occur. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

You can manage these permissions through your device's settings at any time. Denying certain permissions may limit the functionality of the App.

Push Notifications

Bible Note AI uses push notifications to enhance your experience by alerting you when your audio processing is complete or if any errors occur during processing.

What We Send

  • Job Completion Notifications: When your sermon transcription and AI summary are ready
  • Error Notifications: If processing fails or encounters an issue

Device Tokens

To send you push notifications, we store your device's push notification token on our servers. This token is a unique identifier provided by Apple that allows us to send notifications to your specific device. We do not use these tokens for any other purpose, and they are automatically invalidated if you uninstall the App.

Managing Notifications

Push notifications are optional. You can enable or disable them at any time through your iOS device settings: Settings → Bible Note AI → Notifications. Disabling notifications will not affect any other App functionality.

Data Storage Location

Our servers and database are hosted in the United States. When you use our transcription and AI analysis features, your data is processed and stored on servers located in the US.

All data transmission between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS protocols to protect your information during transit.

Data Retention

We retain your sermon transcriptions and AI-generated summaries on our servers to allow you to access your processed content across app sessions. Here's how long we keep different types of data:

  • Transcriptions and Summaries: Automatically deleted from our servers 30 days after creation. This automatic deletion helps protect your privacy while giving you time to access and save your processed content. We recommend exporting any important sermons you wish to keep long-term.
  • Processing Jobs: Job status information is retained for the duration needed to complete processing and allow retrieval of results, then automatically deleted along with the associated transcription after 30 days.
  • Analytics Data: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is retained according to Google's data retention policies, typically 2-14 months depending on the data type.
  • Device Tokens: Push notification device tokens are retained for as long as you use the App to enable job completion and error notifications. These tokens are automatically invalidated if you uninstall the App.

Requesting Data Deletion: If you would like us to delete your transcriptions and summaries from our servers, please contact us at help@liftalytics.app. Since we don't use user accounts, please provide as much detail as possible about the content you wish to have removed (such as sermon titles, dates, approximate upload times, or any other identifying information from the content itself).

Please note that data stored locally on your device (audio recordings, journal entries, notes, flashcards) can be deleted at any time by deleting individual items within the App or by uninstalling the App.

How Your Data is Stored

Data Stored on Our Servers

To provide you with the best experience, we store the following processed data on our servers:

  • Sermon transcriptions (text only, not audio)
  • AI-generated summaries and key themes
  • Extracted scripture references
  • Processing job status and metadata

This server-stored data allows you to retrieve your processed sermons even after closing the app or if processing takes time to complete.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

Your device caches processed data and stores personal content that never leaves your device:

  • Original audio recordings of sermons
  • Cached copies of transcriptions and summaries (for offline access)
  • Study flashcards
  • Journal entries and your personal reflections
  • Personal notes and annotations
  • App preferences and settings

If you delete the App, locally stored data will be permanently deleted from your device. Server-stored transcriptions and summaries remain on our servers but are no longer accessible without the app.

Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously and implement reasonable measures to protect information transmitted through our services:

  • All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS protocols
  • Our servers are hosted on secure infrastructure provided by Railway
  • We do not store your original audio files on our servers
  • API communications are secured and authenticated
  • We regularly review and update our security practices

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you discover any security vulnerability, please report it to help@liftalytics.app.

Data Sharing and Sale of Personal Information

We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

Bible Note AI does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. We have never sold personal information in the past and have no plans to do so in the future.

Limited Data Sharing

We only share your data with third-party service providers as necessary to operate the App:

  • OpenAI: Audio content is processed through OpenAI's API for transcription and AI analysis. Audio is sent temporarily for processing and is not stored by us or by OpenAI beyond their 30-day abuse monitoring period.
  • Firebase (Google): Anonymous analytics and crash data is sent to Firebase to help us improve the App's performance and user experience.
  • Railway: Our hosting provider that stores transcriptions and summaries on secure servers.
  • Apple: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions through In-App Purchases. We do not receive your payment information.

These third parties are bound by their own privacy policies and we require them to protect your information. We do not authorize them to use your information for purposes other than providing services to us.
